Playing catch up once again.

So today I was told that I have been slacking....this better make up for it!!!

We are love, love, loving the summer! It is hot, but water is cool (and so is AC), and so is the awesome hammock-thanks again Papa!! We are having so much fun outside in the yard it is hard to come in.

A day---er two days downtown of shopping. Of course I had to go back to return my impulse buy...a fall jacket, which was awesome but too big...and it was an x-small, I think sizes have grown lately! Kaitlyn being the super smart little shopper that she is had to try on every thing from shoes and jewelry to swimsuits, and come out of the change room with it strung all around her to show it off. She is definitely a mini-me!!!

Watching Dave do his job....at our own house. We are now fully digital-even the phone!

After a particularly fussy afternoon they got nursed together, and had their naps together, whew, I was sooooooo beat!!!

Kaitlyn helped mommy make all the invitations for Marita's shower, even sealed the envelopes.

A zonked little man sprawled out on uncle Dan, who was dying to go home to do homework......ya right!

If I could only read their minds...

If Ethan could talk it would go something like this..." Hey sister, you're crazy, it is summer you know....and 31 degrees C at that!"

Kaitlyn, "Hmmmmm, maybe it is a little warm."

Kaitlyn,"Oh, well, maybe the breeze from flying on my plane swing will cool me down."
Ethan, "Mom, she is soooooo nuts!"

Kaitlyn, "Too hot!"
Ethan, "Nice over here, I'm all good!"

Tenting at the lake-our mid week weekend.

Thursday and Friday were Dave's weekend so we headed out to the lake. Mom and dad are out there for their summer (don't know when it starts or ends) I was excited to camp out so Dave set up our tent. I thought it could be an adventure and, well I think we either need a king size air mattress or we need to wait a few years before attempting camping out again. Not that it wasn't fun, well....it was a long night with many baby wakings and super early morning so not my idea of really fun.

However I would do it again just for the evening and morning outside. There is something really special about being at the lake, a relaxing peaceful feeling comes over me and despite having next to no sleep, being out of the city energizes me.
I just love it out there and so does Dave, so....we have decided we want to move out there. This of course will take time, finding land, and the huge process of finding out what can be built and where and then designing a home and building. So don't expect big moving news any time soon, we don't even have land yet, this is just our dream starting to take shape.

In the evening we all sat around the fire, roasted wiener's and marshmallow's, laughed over old stories and moms campfire songs passed down from her dad.

In the morning we went out for a canoe ride, in pea soup. In really hot weather the algae really flares up and is quite yucky, but it usually only lasts a few days. The guys then tore up the old deck down at the lake. It used to be a boat house but was converted to a deck. Phil stepped through it in a few places this year already so they ripped it out and a new one is in the works. I am excited about this because it is supposed to be level, and you will be able to walk out onto the dock from it.

The view laying in the tent....couldn't be better!

The kids, including Phil and Emily played in the tent for hours, I guess because it is like a little house...and it is like being outside without the bugs.

Balmy days.

Out for rollerblades around the lake, walks, and lots of time in the backyard, I just love to be outside and coming back into the house after being out is not always fun. Getting motivated to clean has been a real issue, but it must be done, I wish I had a convertible house with a roof on a track system so I could let the sun in, mind you then there would be a lot of bugs and Ethan is bald-ish and would have to keep his hat on.
I am used to the little red ants now and can kill them with my bare fingers, ya, that is how often I am finding them around our fireplace. I hope we can get rid of them somehow!

Dan's 18th B-day

Summer is busy, wow! I was trying to be regular with posting but life is just so full right now. So I will attempt to skim you through the past week. Last Sunday was Dan's 18th birthday so we all went over to mom and dads for lunch. We just hung out for most of the afternoon, doing family time. Out in the backyard my mom was watering her flowers and Kaitlyn wanted a turn. Once she had the hose she turned to me, said "maaaaaam" and giggled and sprayed me, what a little terror. She then turned to my grandma and made her shriek and dance, we all got a little wet but it was hot and felt great. Here are the rest of the pics from lunch. (click)
For dinner we went over to "TT's" new condo where she put on an awesome spread. Her place is sooooo cute, I just love the airy feel she had created! And here is what happens when you let Phil take your camera (click).
