What once was lost...

For those of you facebookers who was wondering why I was filled with glee on Sunday here is my lamo story. Remember last Tuesday I posted about losing a set of keys....well after going back to the splash park to search in vain and placing a call to the adjacent community centre I heard nothing. I watched the paper....nothing. Then I got a call from the community centre saying they were sorry but nothing was turned in. My heart was so sad, my gut sick, the feeling of loosing something just plain sucks! Those where Kaitlyn's favourite keys and they went almost everywhere with us. She asked me every day, "keys, keys, keys??....." and I had to say "sorry honey, we lost them." Then after much prayer and sad thought I was about to give up hope when the phone rang. It was a community centre worker who had been on vacation since Tuesday and my keys had sat on her desk the whole week, Yipeeee!!!!!

I sang "I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my hear..." all the way there, I was so excited! And you should have seen Kaitlyn's face when I got home!!!

A lake day

A day at the lake is always fun, hot since there is no ac, but fun since you just have to get wet to cool down! Kaitlyn loves to play "ball, ball, ball" with auntie Em and they throw it back and forth with Emily chasing all the stray tosses trying to catch them before they go all the way down to the lake.

The new boat and motor-a whopping 2hp, not quite a comparison to the old 18 footer with 180 hp!! At least you can carry it in and out and don't have to unload at the ramp, and you don't have to have a special little motor just to troll for fishing, hmmmm....really trying to see the plus side here.....still, no water skiing this year which makes me bummed since I wasn't able to water ski the last two years since I was hugely prego, d'oh! Even if everyone in the boat paddled and they had the motor going full speed I don't think I would barely budge from the water let alone get up, sigh, am thinking a seadoo might be something we need to invest in...Dave did get a skidoo for the winter, think I could twist his arm?

More before and after shots, this time of the little garden in front of the cottage. It took me 2 hours and 4 wheel barrows full of junk to get it cleaned up. These pics totally don't do it justice, it looked way worse and looks way better now........maybe I am just telling myself this since it was so much work. However I really enjoyed working on it and find working in the garden to be therapeutic, enjoyable and rewarding, I get a real sense of satisfaction when I see the end product.

Backyard-before and after.

What a mess the back yard was when we moved in (last November). It had been used as a huge litter box by two huge dogs and was a gross gravel mess. It became one of our first projects since we could never go back there with the kids. Here are the before pics.

And now for the after shots.
Now we love it! The grass has grown-still a little patchy, but it is coming in great and I even managed to get a few flowers in to pots and baskets, next year should be better. The kids are loving it! We spend most of the day out there swinging and going down the slide, rocking in the hammock or playing in the pool. We are pretty happy with how it is turning out!

Oh, these summer days...

Out in the yard is where we are. All the rock is gone, grass has grown, even been mowed, flowers planted, play structures set up, hammock beckoning (thank you Papa) and even an umbrella for shade, not that we need it with the huge trees. I love the yard!!!! Hated it when we moved in but this little house is growing on me despite the little problems and I am really enjoying my days. With the weather so awesome we are out all the time, well almost, we do come inside to cool down, eat and nap.



Yesterday morning we went to a splash park for a play date. The kids loved to splash when the water was low, but when it sprayed hard we played on the blanket, so it was back and forth every 3 minutes, fun though. Then later that afternoon I realized that we had lost Kaitlyn's play keys, the ones that go to her barbie beetle and have our spare remote for the truck and spare house keys on it. Arg!!!! I have called the community centre where the splash park was and am watching the paper, so frustrating, I NEED them! I sure hope(pray) they turn up!


"Hi, ya, oohh-ya, yaaa, bye!" Really though...I am not worried about this child's creative imagination!

Tuesday Katie and I took the kids out to the farm to see Ben and Susan's new place, drop off a basket and take dinner to Tim. While we were there we could hear a cat crying and followed the sound to....a wall. The STUPID cat had climbed through a small hole on the second floor and crawled through the rafters and fallen down inside the wall. Again....STUPID cat! Tim cut a hole and let it out (and the stink of a cat using the inside of a wall as a litter box) and what did the STUPID cat do..............run back upstairs and back into the hole! You would think it would have learned a lesson after spending 4 days in the wall! Oh, did I say STUPID yet.....Tim had to then bribe it out with water, I could have smacked it!(Well not really, since it is a cat, but I gave it a little kick mentally, cause really how stupid can a cat be!?) I thought cats were supposed to be smart, ha, maybe this is why I am more of a dog person!

At long last....Canada Day long weekend!

Hello. I am back.....so it's been a while. Summer is just too fun and busy! I am so exhausted and drop into bed thinking that I need to update the blog because so much happens every day that I just can't keep up and am falling further behind by the moment. So this post is a catch up post, to get me back into the regular swing of things.

The long weekend was great! Lori, Fernando and the boys came out to spend it with us and we kept them busy. Saturday we spent out at the cottage playing in the water, soaking up the sun and chowing down on loads of summer food. We stopped in at Rowans Ravine for ice cream before calling it a day. A long fun day!

Kaitlyn and Ethan got an early birthday gift from Auntie and Uncle and Grandma and Papa....an awesome play structure. Kaitlyn has been up and down the slide at least a hundred times already, she just loves it!

Ah, ha....just to prove to you all, he does have hair! And a dirty spot, hmmm...

Sunday was a day filled with family visiting, shopping, walking....to the park to soak in all the Canada Day festivities. It was a scorching hot day and I was a ditz and forgot to pack hats for the kids, stupid mommy! But we still survived with a tee shirt for shade and freezies to keep cool. Later on we walked over to the lake to watch the fire works, a great wrap up for the day.

Monday we said good-bye to the family and spent the afternoon chilling out at Regina Beach. I think that pretty much gives a quick overview of the weekend.
